Has anyone noticed the changed appearance here on the website? If so, and if you like it, thank Shawn Speakman. He's done - in my opinion - a wonderful job of updating the site with images and art from the new novel. I'm stoked!

I have to thank J.S. for getting me to take care of a bit of long-neglected business...
Namely, I'd always known there was something wrong with my RSS feed. I'd just never gotten around to fixing it. I'd told my wife a while back that I'd wait until somebody wrote me and asked about it. To which she replied that not many people would think to write an author with that query. To which I replied, "Sure, but it'll happen eventually." And it did. J.S. was that person, writing this... "I subscribe to the RSS feed of Patrick Rothfuss blog; I think it's wise for any published author to maintain contact with readers through blogs. And thus I am pleased to see that you also have a blog. My only disappointment is that I can't find a link to the RSS feed on the webpage. Perhaps this is intentional, but if it's not, would you consider adding one? I doubt I'm the only fan who would appreciate the ability to subscribe to your blog and be updated every time you update it rather than just check the webpage every now and then..." If Pat can do it, I should at least put in the effort! With that prompting, I went to work. You'll now notice the "Subscribe Via RSS Feed" button on the sidebar. If you're at all interested in following my humble posts here please consider clicking on it. And let me know if there are any problems with it. I'm hoping, though, that it'll work fine and provide plenty of options on just how to receive the feed. So there, that's done. Now I just have to continue to find interesting things to write about... Hi. I was away again, but now I'm back. (Bet you didn't notice.)
A few folks have asked me about the change in the blog appearance. No, you're not crazy. Yes, it has changed. Shawn Speakman went to work on it for me, giving it a look that integrates it right into the website. So now it all looks much more like a cohesive whole. That's the idea, at least. Let me know if anything has gone wacky, but otherwise I hope you like the new look! Thursday, April 10, 2008The Webmaster
I'm pleased to mention that webmaster Shawn Speakman just updated my website. It's not like anything was really changed in terms of style or formatting, but he added new content to catch up with the months since the site was created! It's a much appreciated bit of work, and I thought I'd mention it. Shawn's good at this stuff. He writes, too, as he details on his WEBSITE.
Monday, June 04, 2007Okay, the Forum is back up and running!
Shawn and several others, I think, went to work on the Forum and came back with a much better version that will be spam-free. Unfortunately, we had to start from scratch, deleting several week's worth of threads on topics as varied as cultural diversity in fantasy, LOTR's virtues and flaws, the trials and tribulations of moving, the smell of fresh baked bread... Occasionally someone had something to say about my fiction also.
Sorry about the stuff we lost, but I'm sure we can rebuild in no time. Also, everyone has to join again - this is to make sure you're not a bot. Please do click over and take a look. As of when I'm writing this there are only five members registered! Labels: Website Forum Down Temporarily
Hiya. Just so you know the Forum on my website is down for some reworking. It was getting a lot of bot-driven spam of all sorts. Unpleasant. So Shawn and others are rebuilding it from the ground up to make it harder for spammers to get in. Hopefully, it'll be back up soon and ready for the release of the book - eight days away!
